Small update and Feature number 3!

Thu Dec 3, 2009, 12:36 PM
Journal Features!

1. Be one of the first 10 commenting on this journal entry, and I will add you to the Feature List.

2. For each of the 10 first people answering this journal I will put his/her avatar and three deviations from his/her gallery on the list.

3. If you answer, you’ll have to do the same in your journal, putting me on the first place, completing this list with 10 people. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone!

^_^ Thought this was a fun idea to spread art through the community and support one another as artists! I'll update a bit later with the artwork over the next couple of days, but for now enjoy the first feature!

Third feature, the ever-lovely :icondarknessarts:

If anyone else wants a feature, please comment! I've still only gotten three! (I guess not as many people read my journals as I thought!)

For a small and quick update, it's finals week coming up! So I'll be busy of course, doing all sorts of projects, and studying Art history like a mad woman. I'm still of the opinion that we need more than 2 semesters of this class, you just can' cover art from the stone-age to the Gothic Cathedrals of Europe in one semester and expect me to remember it all. We've gone way too fast!

Also coming up this weekend is the Festival of Bast, which OAO is celebrating for the first time, and my friend Joey and I will be performing a belly-dance piece there, hopefully it'll be recorded and I'll end up posting it on YouTube, look for a link coming up.

After this however, the only thing I need to worry about is Yule, and I'm so looking forward to having a break. It's much needed! On my list for the winter break: Read, Sew, Draw, Meditate, Write, Ritual and Sleep!

Hope all goes well with you all!

Samhain, School and Such!

Tue Nov 10, 2009, 11:07 AM
An actual update! I'm sure you're all shocked, but I had a moment and it's well past time! I noticed that I hadn't changed my journal since Beltaine! (May 1st!) We're halfway through another year already!

Several things have changed, but others stay the same. I'm taking a year to catch up on my studies as far as my Priestesship goes, which is a very good thing, but things for OAO are as busy as ever. We've really been working on being more active in the community this year, and have been doing public actions, holding more events than ever, and just being out and about as a group more. (My favorite is First Fridays, when we hit up all the art galleries downtown) I've stepped up more in the community by both cooking for large events, since some of our holidays we feast after, and taking on some of the cottage crafts. For Samhain I did a lecture on the history of Dia de los Muertos (the day of the dead) and taught how to make and decorate sugar skulls. It was a pretty cool deal. I'll be teaching knitting in December closer to Yule.

Also! I need to keep up with Tarot practice! If you'd like a reading drop me a message and we can set up a time for an in person or phone reading! I'm still learning, so these are free.

Samhain, as usual, was deep, and wonderful, we had just the right number of people in attendance to have a wonderful ritual. I am so grateful for my spiritual community and all the love and support they offer!

Also news-worthy is that I'm a student again, and it's so nice to be back! I'm a fine arts major this time, no mucking about with linguistics any more, straight for the fun! I'll admit that it's a bit akward being "the old one" in with a bunch of freshman since I'm basically starting over, but it's fun and I'm learning a lot. I'm also not working much and am getting by on financial aid, which allows me to keep up with it all. It's nice not to have to worry about it, money problems and work stress was part of what led to me dropping out the first time. Because of all of this I've actually been making a lot of art! Most of it is just little exercises, but some are pretty neat projects, much bigger than I usually work, which makes scanning an issue. But I promise to update with more soon, and I might doodle a couple of things just for fun if I have time for a breather!

Hope all is well with everyone out there in cyber-land!
Peace!

Another Beltaine another year, and my goodness has it started off quickly!

This Beltaine was spent with my coven, a few community members, and I up sequestered away in a cabin up the Seeley-Swan valley in the woods. This is becoming a tradition for us, and one that I'm extremely grateful for. Time seems to slow up in that place, the woods are quiet, the water calming, the entire cabin a work of art. I spent the entire time feeling like I was staying inside a living tree. We spent the entire week in spiritual contemplation, living as if the realm of Malkuth was something we had managed to shed and leave behind.

We all dreamed dreams, fought inner battles and won, supported one another, wove webs, made art, baked bread, sang, had debates, danced, processed our insecurities, became spiritual family and ultimately, cleaned ourselves up from the past year to start all over again.

All hail the King of the May! All hail the Queen of the May!

We stayed up at the cabin through the weekened, a few days after Beltaine, and I took my third mark while we were there. My partner Anju was also initiated to her neophytic year, the day before Beltaine. And so we move forward!

Unfortunately, when we left the realm of Malkuth came crashing down upon us more quickly than we were ready for. Anju, AJ, our dog Kyrie and I were all in the same car on the way home, and we had the misfotune of hitting a deer. This was an unaviodable event. Everyone inside the car was fine, the deer of course, was not. We've prayed for it, and plan on leaving it's spirit offerings the next time we go that way. The synchronicity of this event was not lost on us.

Se here we are, returned from our little spiritual cocoon. Time has returned to it's normal pace, and there is work, family, friends and other things to keep up with. Anju and I are looking for both a new home and a new car. (We are extremely hopeful on both fronts.) O.A.O's year has turned and started again, we are getting used to our new and more prompt schedule, and gathering together new ideas and projects for what promises to be a very busy and productive year! I'm looking forward to it! (if anyone wants/needs a copy of our schedule please check O.A.O's myspace page or note me with any questions. We are starting a mailing list this year, let me know if you'd like to join!)

On the art front of things, I'm playing catch-up, but will have new stuff up soon!

I hope that everyones' Beltaine was as wonderful as mine was, and that the blessings and vigor of spring are helping each of you on your own ways!

Love, light, and blessings!
